When Aegyo gets real! The End of T-ara?
I really don't know how to start this, because so many people have already talked about this subject. It's hard to weed through all the information on the T-ara scandal to know what is real and what is sensationalized for press. I think that being in a band is a complicated thing, and band members fight often. This doesn't matter if you grew up with your band members, and have known each other for years. It also doesn't matter if your band members didn't know each other until the company told you who they were. Bands grow over time, and personalities clash. This is pretty much the make up of anything that involves working with others. When I heard that members of T-ara were having a hard time, I pretty much just shrugged my shoulders. I thought nothing of it. Even though I'm pretty much new to my addiction of K-Pop (A little over a year :). I'm not in total shock that a group of girls are having a hard time getting along. Like I said this happens a lot in bands, and also it happens a lot in a group of girls.
T-ara always seemed like an extra sugary and nice band. Full of massive hits of aegyo, and sunshine. Then I read about rumors of bullying started slipping out. The reports were saying that Hwayoung was being bullied, and forced to be alone. Which really gave the group a negative image, and really hurt their aegyo nice status.
Then the It really hit the fan on July 29th, When a photo from the idol Olympics was posted. The photo showed Hwayoung's umbrella bent, and Boram (Who has been listed as the main attacker) standing by her with a straight umbrella. Then it was captioned under the picture that Boram used her umbrella to destroy Hwayoung's umbrella. Now I don't know if this is true, and I kind of find it hard to believe. I mean seriously why would she do something like that at a public event, I mean it totally makes no sense.
Other things started leaning toward Boram not being the only member with an issue with Hiwayoung. Jiyeon was shown on an entertainment program putting down Hiwayoung. Which then lead to Hiwayoung's tweet which stated, "There is a reason for everything."
Then all the members started tweeting, and were pointing towards Hiwayoung not being able to perform due to a leg injury that happened on SBS that aired on the 22nd or June. Hiwayoung then retorted with this tweet. "Sometimes even with determination it's too much. At times like these it's upsetting, but I believe there's a good meaning behind it that God has provided. Hoot."
It's so hard to say what is what, and who did what. Everyone is trying to hard to find something that shows some sort of bullying evidence. Like this picture that comes from a video showing Eunjung shoving rice cakes into Hiwayoung's mouth. Now to me it looks like they are just on a television show, and this is a game. Now everyone is saying this is an example of the bullying. It feels like everyone is reaching for something that isn't there. I mean seriously I don't think she was doing this as some sort of group punishment. I don't think their management would allow that, or less long let it be taped if it wasn't a joke.
We don't really know what exactly was going on in the group, or if bullying to the meanest degree happened. Yes I do think that they are having issues getting along, I would go as far as to say it's possible that the other members aren't getting along with one sole member. It happens a lot in groups or anything. Maybe at times they could be catty to that member, or hurtful. We all say mean and hurtful things. It's human nature. Sad but true. Now I know a lot of people are discussing if they should just end the band if Hiwayoung is out, or if they should get a new member. I find that subject always touchy because even though I don't totally stan out over T-ara, I know if I was a stan for them. I would find it hard to adjust to one of the members I have grown to love is just gone/replaced. I love 2ne1, and I honestly don't know how I would feel if they just replaced one of the members. I know I would feel like it's not the same band anymore, and I don't know if I would be into them as much as I was before because I grew a bond with the members they had before. So I know how hardcore fans must feel about this, but will I listen to T-ara if they stayed together with Hiwayoung gone. Honestly if the song was good, more than likely I would. That's just me because again I'm not a hardcore fan of the group, so I don't have that fan relationship with each girl in the group. I do feel for those that are hardcore fans of the group, and I understand why they are upset. If T-ara does continue to go on, I hope they have something amazing up their sleeves for the fans. They are seriously going to have to do some making up and damage control for this whole thing. I don't see it being swept under the rug quietly and quickly. Even though I'm sure their management team wants it to be.
Do you think that T-ara should keep going after the removal of a member, or do you think they should just end the band? Do you think the bullying thing is just over hyped, or do you feel that there is some truth to it? Let me know by leaving a comment down below and We'll discuss!
Let's all just enjoy their wonderful new release and Awesome video for it!
