Blah blah blah blah. No matter who's side you are on, it's the same thing. They both dislike everything about the other group, but they think the other group is hating on them more. It's such a cluster fuck of what the fuck. Don't get me wrong, I still very much enjoy the show. I just think a lot of the girls on the show needs to really take a look at themselves, and realize they are pretty much all doing the exact same thing.
I want to start doing a review of the show episode by episode, but first I want to introduce you to each of these characters. Also give you my opinion of what I honestly think of them from what I have seen on the show. I will start the weekly recap of each episode next week. So here is my first impressions that I've gotten from each of the girl since I've been watching.
I just feel bad for Amy, because I feel like she is trying to fit in somewhere in the big NYC ocean, and no one really wants to accept her. When she is at social events she does enjoy getting a little tipsy. I got a feeling that she does this to try to deflect that fact that she is so nervous around people. She is dubbed as "Sweet" by most of the group when they talk about her, but it's not in a, "Oh she is so sweet" type of way. Most of the time when they are calling Amy "Sweet" it's followed up by a smirk, and a chuckle. Also it's said in a passive aggressive sarcastic tone. I do think she is one of those girls that moved to NYC to try to be Carrie Bradshaw. I think Amy is trying to be what she thinks she should, and that has became what she wants to be.
Angela is an artist who was born and raised in Orange County under a very strict Household. She moved to NYC when she was 18 to attend NYU, and to work on her career in the arts. She models, freelances, and waits tables to pay the bills. She is pretty much an attention whore, but she understands that she is that. She makes comments about how the attention needs to be on her at all times, and is always overly sexual. Angela was one of the girls I thought I was really going to like, because she seemed really chill for like the first 10 mins of the show.
Then that very quickly wore off. She was one of the first members of this cast to prove what a total hypocrite she is. First she says that she hated being in Orange County because everyone judged her, and she didn't fit in. Then when she meets a blond girl from Manhattan who happened to live in Orange County for a little bit, she was the first to judge. She assumed she was one of those stuck up girls that she was used to in Orange County.
Then in the last episode she tried to take back the statement when she saw the girl was a little more alternative than she thought, since her sleeves were done. That was the first thing that made me seriously dislike Angela. The second thing was when she went out to date with an older man. She states that she has always dreamt of being kept by an older man.
Then she asks him about his camera. He is a photography purest, so he doesn't use digital. This is a big x in Angela's book, and then she goes on to tell the camera in her interview that they weren't a match. She also adds that if they don't have a Gmail, or an IPhone.
She doesn't have time for them. I must be so out of the loop, because I didn't know having a Gmail, had become a thing of status. I have a Gmail, because I think it's easier to have all my stuff under Gmail so it's all linked. I didn't know Gmail had become the cool email. I didn't even know there was a damn such thing known as a cool email. Ahhhh Angela. You hate the cool kids, but you still want to make sure you fit in with the cool kids that you want to be involved with. Life is hard. *Rolling my eyes really really really really really really hard right now* I understand not being into a guy because you have different outlooks on life, or because you don't really have anything in common. Seriously because of Gmail. Oh ya, Angela is on a quest to be the next "It" girl. I didn't know you can set out for this, I thought it just always happened that the girl had that something that made people gravitate towards them. Well Thank you Angela for learning me....or something.
Is her name fake, because it sounds fake to me. She is one of the main reasons for this blog, because after watching a scene with her in it from the show. My fiance said, "Pretentious is as Pretentious does". I think I spit out my water, because that was a little bit wonderful. Chantal is big in japan. She models for Japanese clothing companies, and they love using her in their magazines. Chantal thinks this is because she looks a little bit like an anime character. Chantal you don't look like an Anime character. You look like an artistic American girl with a small frame. That is why you are so popular in Japan, because you have a very popular look right now. Especially with her haircut she got so she doesn't fit in, but she actually still has the same hair cut as everyone else. Chantal also thinks she looks Asian, and that's the other reason she is popular in Japan, and why her boyfriend with the intense Asian Fetish likes her so much. For some reason that just sounds offensive, but Angela didn't get mad about the fetish when it was brought up to her at a party. She actually welcomed the invitation. So I guess it's ok. *Shrugs*
You will find this hard to believe but I don't hate Chantal. I actually find myself laughing at some of the things she says. The thing I like about Chantal is she doesn't really try to pretend she isn't a pretentious bitch. She is pretty much take me or leave me. This is how I am. She is damn annoying at times, but funny thing is that is a little bit of her charm. Chantal has been living on her own since 15, so she pretty much knows how the world works. This is something she said on the show.
One of her close friends invested a lot of money from her family to start a gallery that also sold clothing. I feel bad for this girl because Chantal has the mindset of "Oh well" if we fail we fail. I'll worry about that when it happens. She is one of those people that you really want to show that they are trying to work with you, but they are aloof or they act like they aren't paying attention. Again this is a little bit of Chantal's Charm, but I chalk Chantal up to this. She is someone that you meet at a party, you throw shade back and forth. You exchange numbers to hang out. She is a touch and go friend, and Associate so to say. You don't invest in her, because chances are very high that she will let you down. Also she is big in japan, so she has a lot of stuffs going on. I couldn't even find a random instagramish shot for Chantal. She has leveled pass that obviously.
Claudia Martinez Reardon
Claudia is one of the girls that I really like. She doesn't seem like she is trying to be something she isn't. Her love of art comes off really natural, and genuine. She seems like she just wants to share her love for art, and all things artistic with the world. She started a Gallery with Chantal called, "End of the Century". You see how worried she is that the gallery won't make money, and you can't really blame her when her business party is shiny nickel Chantal. Chantal, Who is all for whatever idea you are telling her about until someone drops a Shiny Nickel, and she is determined to chase it down until someone drops a Shiny Penny. She tries to remind Chantal what a big investment this is for her, because her parents gave her 15k to start the business up. Chantal then reminds her that her aunt gave 2k, so she is an equal partner. I think of all the skills that Chantal exceeds at, Math isn't one of them. *Shrugs*
Claudia knows this is a very big deal for her, and I got the feeling that if the business didn't succeed that means she might have to make alternative plans with her life. Which might even include leaving NYC. Now Chantal has been helping with the business, booking trunk shows, and so on. I believe Chantal is in charge of the fashion side, and Claudia brings in the art. (Totally random side note, but the fact that her name is Claudia and she is an artist makes me think of the babysitters club every time I write her name. Sorry...Random)
I have no idea how they became partners, because when you see Chantal's qualifications, next Claudia's qualifications it's like day and night. I almost positive that Chantal cartmen'd Claudia. Meaning that Claudia was working on ideas for a business, and Chantal decided to stop over while Claudia was brainstorming. Then while Chantal was playing on her phone she said, "You know sometimes it can be so hard to shop for clothes, and try to make time to shop for great high end art also." Then Claudia went wait a minute, what if I was put clothes and high end art into space. Then she was like, "I would want to make it as a gallery though, because no one has never really done that before." Then Chantal said, "That is totally a great idea! I think we should do that." Then bam Partners. This isn't what really happened, but that is how it plays out in my head. On a serious note, it's sad to think that her dreams, and her goals might be shattered by someone that she considered a really good friend.
Kerri Lisa
Kerri is another one of the girls that I actually don't hate, but she did get on my nerves at one time. She was out to dinner with a bunch of the Brooklyn girls, and Amy who she works with. She told Amy that she couldn't hang with her because she is a Manhattan girl. This will always drive me insane, because I feel the fact that you can't hang out with the other people because they are part of the uptown group, is just as bad as them saying they can't hang with you because you are downtown. I do think that might have been a joke, because since then she seems to hang with all of the girls equally. The funny this is that she is one of the Manhattan girls. She just got a job working with Amy, and Amy thinks that Kerri's lack of background makes her less of a threat.
The thing is that Kerri does actually have a very good eye for art, and people take notice of that. They were both given a project by her boss to pick out some art that she would be interested in. Amy picked the mainstream artist, really fast. She didn't really take the time to see what spoke to her. She just hurried up and picked a piece so she was able to go out that night. Kerri took her time, and looked at the pieces that she felt really made her feel something. Of course this was the piece the boss wanted, because she didn't want something mainstream. She wanted to find something she has never seen before, and wanted them to pick that out for her. Amy brushed that off as beginners luck, but she might not want to just brush Kerri off. She has a lot more skill than Amy thinks.
Kerri is also a multi-tasker. She took this internship because she wanted to get a feel for picking out high end art for luxury hotels. She also has a full time job as a Luxury Full time Concierge, and she manages the lifestyles of the rich & famous. She would like to make a lifestyle brand, that marries the two industries she has a passion for Art & Hospitality.
Liz Margulies
I don't know what it is about Liz, but she can come off pretty fucking annoying. Like seriously fucking annoying, because she just has this stuck up stubborn way about her. I know she had a lot of issues, and her attitude is from not being loved by her father. I tried to weigh all that in, but she really comes off as a cold hearted bitch.
I will give Liz credit when Credit is due. She did build her Career on her own, and she did have to over come a serious drug addiction. She didn't use her father's connections to get where she is now. She is studying graphic arts at "The School for Visual Arts". She also has an internship at a well respected Art studio. So you think with some major points like that, Liz wouldn't be so bitchy. Liz is extremely bitchy. She is very judgemental, of everything. She says it's because of her father, not loving her, or showing any affection. I don't know who's side to go on there, because I know someone being addicted to anything can bring serious issues to a family. I don't know if her dad isn't affectionate towards her, because he is still trying to tread lightly until he sees she has actually changed. Maybe he is just a cold person, and that's where she learned it from.
I also must say that I think that Liz might seriously dislike Asians. She made a few remarks that leaned towards that way. Actually it leaned towards Liz not only being a bitch, but a racist bitch. She has made snide remarks about how her School is full of Asians. She has also said that Asians like to act meek so they don't get called out on things. Then when her mom asked her if she made any friends, and told her that it looks like a lot of the people in your apartment complex might go to her school. She then said, "Is that because they are all Asians." I got a feeling from some of those remarks that a white hoody might be in her future. I'm not saying, but I'm saying.
Liz grew up with Amy, and she wants nothing to do with her. She feels that Amy is someone who pretends she loves everyone, and she is just a kiss ass. She also feels that Amy doesn't have any confidence in herself. Amy didn't know this, but she knew something was up. She tried to bring some cupcakes to Liz's job to make everyone OK. Liz was so not impressed, because not only did she not want her even coming by. She got her cupcakes, when she has a gluten allergy. She then said to the camera, "What kind of so called friend does this." Again she is a total bitch. She then goes to meet up with Amy, and tells her that she pretty much thinks she sucks as a person. Total Fucking Bitch. Now I saw her point when she said that Amy was getting too drunk when they hung out, and her being a recovering addict. She couldn't have that in her life, but everyone she hangs with drinks. So that doesn't really make sense. She just doesn't want to be friends with Amy, because she is a bitch. I wouldn't be surprised if she thought she was better than her, because Liz seems to think she is better than everyone. Can you image Chantal's ego, and Liz's ego in a battle? The fight would go on for hours. AT least I could find an Instagramish picture of her, but i'm sure that was just luck.
Maggie Schaffer
Maggie is boring, she is so boring that I couldn't even find a single instagramish shot for her. She has messed up my theme. Blah! Maggie doesn't understand why people would play a shot game, that makes them half to slap each other after every shot. She is living on a nice trust fund her parents, and grandparents made for her. She went back to intern for Eli Klein, after leaving him for making her do jobs that she shouldnt' have to do. He is still making her do jobs she shouldn't have to do, but she is determined to finish her Internship. Everything outside of Manhattan pretty much makes Maggie want to throw up. She has a boyfriend that she feels doesn't really treat her as a boyfriend should, but she stays with him anyways. I got a feeling Maggie just wants to complain about something. She is one of those people that wouldn't know how to act if she wasn't complaining. The only thing positive that I can say about her, is that she is nice to Amy's face. So that's a plus I guess. She is really boring, I don't know what else to write about her, maybe she will get more interesting later in the season. *Shrugs* If not bravo replace her. KTHXBYE :D
